누들: (투디에게 해석중) 던 외계인이 미션을 갑자기 끝내고 우리가 매장에 충돌한 이후 아직 살아있어서 다행이라 하셔.
투디: 그쵸 일이 좀 안좋게 됐었죠. 엄, 사실 다 이상했어요. 외계인들이랑 같이 춤추다가 ( 중간에 뭐라고 했는지 안들림) G-SHOCK가 던 목에 걸리면서 한순간에 저희는 그자리를 떠야했어요. 질식하는데 눈이 초록으로 변하더라구요.
누들: 나중에 일어난 우주 추격전은 꽤 즐겼어. 근데 투디 너가 기절하면서 추격전을 놓친게 참 아쉬워.
투디: 아냐 기절한건 아니고 그냥 잠든것뿐이야.
이베 키쿠오: G-SHOCK는 "세상에서 가장 튼튼한 시계" 가 되는것을 목표로 했습니다. 35년 전부터 개발하기 시작했어요. 아이스하키 스틱으로 쎄게 친다던지, 큰 트럭으로 친다던지, G-SHOCK 은 그럼에도 튼튼함을 유지하고 망가지지 않았습니다.
그래서 이를 본 저희는 우주가 다음이다 라고 생각하기 시작했어요. 우주의 험한 환경을 견딜 수 있는 G-SHOCK 시계를 개발하면 좋겠다는 생각을 한거죠.
누들: (투디에게 해석중) 세상에서 가장 튼튼한 시계를 만드는것을 목표로 35년 전부터 G-SHOCK 을 개발하셨는데, 이 목표를 달성하고 나서 다음으로 우주를 노리셨고, 우주를 통틀어 가장 튼튼한 시계를 만들기를 원하셨대.
투디: 잠깐, 아이스하키 얘기 다시해줄수 있어? 분명 아이스하키 들은 것 같은데-
누들: 아 그냥 내가 굳이 해석해주고 싶진 않아서-
투디: 아니 그래도 알려줘야지 너가 통역사잖아, 너가 해석하고 싶은 부분만 쏙 골라서 들려주는건 좀 아니잖아, 나는 아이스하키에 관해 듣고 싶다고.
누들: 응, 알겠다고.
이베 키쿠오: 그냥 진행해도 괜찮을까요?
누들: 네, 죄송합니다.
이베 키쿠오: 이제, G-SHOCK가 35살이 되었고, 35주년을 기념하기 위해서 저는 외계인들이 G-SHOCK 을 차고있는 모습을 상상하고 보길 원했어요. 그게 제 꿈이였습니다. 고릴라즈가 제 꿈을 찾을 수 있도록 도와줘서 너무 감사드립니다.
투디: 네, 우주로 나갔을때 꽤 괜찮았어요. 시계들을 나눠주는게 좋았고요, 밤이 끝나기 전에 모두가 시계를 차고 있었죠. 음 그리고 외계인들이 이제 손에 시간이 남아돈다는것(시계가 손에 있다=손에 시간이 있다)) 말장난)도 알게되어 좋았어요.
누들: (이베키쿠오에게 해석중) 어쨋든, 외계인들이 손에 시간을 가질수 있어서 좋았다고 합니다.
이베 키쿠오: 그렇다고 하시니 기쁘군요.
누들: (투디에게 해석중) 그렇게 생각해줘서 기쁘시대.
투디: 그렇겠지.
이베 키쿠오: 참, 어떻게 해서 고릴라즈에 들어가게 되신건가요?
누들: 아, 저는 말이죠, 제가 10살때 머독이 NME 음악 잡지에 기타리스트를 구한다는 내용의 광고를 올렸는데요, 이를 보고 제가 FedEx로 영국까지 제 자신을 배송했어요. 그렇게 시작했습니다.
이베 키쿠오: 굿.
누들: 아, 투디 내가 영국으로 온 그 FedEx 상자 기억해? 나 그때 가시들에 엄청 많이 찔렸는데.
투디: 너보다 우리가 상황이 더 나빴어. 우리가 사실 택배를 직접 못받았거든. 집에 도착했는데 현관에 저장소로 와서 택배 직접 받아가라는 메모만 붙여있었어. 그래서 갔는데 내가 여권을 안가지고 와서 그 남자가 택배를 안주는거야. 그리고 다시 집가서 여권 찾는데 못찾겠고, 안전한 곳 어딘가에 둔건 아는데 안전해도 기억할만한 곳은 아니였나봐, 내가 기억도 안날만큼 안전했던거지. 어디다 놨는지 몰라서 4시간 동안 여권 찾고, 다시 저장소로 가서 여권 보여줬더니 그 페이지가 없다는거야. 머독이 여자 번호 적어두려고 찢어 가져간거였어. 그래서 다시 집으로 가서 내 운전면허를 찾는데, 그 순간 내가 면허가 없다는걸 깨달은거야. 그래서 그냥 가스 요금 가지고 저장소로 갔는데. .. 기존에 있던 그 남자가 근무 교대해서 새 직원이 계셨어. 결국 6일 이후 누들을 받을 수 있었어.
누들: 원래 2일 배송이였는데! 왜이렇게 오래걸리나 했네.
투디: 그럼 네가 일등석을 예약했어야지.
누들: . .. ... 아무튼, 이베씨는 무엇이 이베씨가 꿈을 쫓을 수 있도록 영감을 준 동기부여였나요?
이베 키쿠오: 고등학교 입학을 기념으로 첫 시계를 선물 받았었는데, 떨어트리니까 조각조각 깨지더라구요. 이를 보고 깨질 수 없는 그런 시계를 만들어야겠다는 아이디어를 얻었습니다. 하지만, 제가 생각했던것 보다 어려웠습니다. 저는 앞으로 진전을 할 수가 없었어요. 그리고 그때 제 머리가, 지금은 괜찮아졌지만, 정말 폭발할 것 같았습니다. 실패한다는 만약을 위해 심지어 포기할 준비와 각오를 했어요. 하지만, 저는 제 믿음으로 제가 당연히 할 수 있을거라고 생각했습니다; 절대 절대 절대 포기하지 말라" 였죠. 언제 제가 한 여자아이가 공원에서 공놀이를 하는것을 봤는데, 시계의 움직임에 대한 아이디어을 그 공 덕분에 얻었어요. 머리속 전구가 켜진 순간이면서, 또 동시에 모듈 플로팅 구조가 탄생한 순간이었습니다.
투디: 이베님이 너한테 어떻게 머리에 불이 붙었는지 얘기해주시고 계셔?

누들: (투디에게 해석중) 이베씨가 소중한 시계를 깨뜨리셨는데 이를 계기로 깨질 수 없는 시계를 개발하고 싶으셨대. 근데 예상과는 달리 너무 어려워서 머리가 터질것 같았다고 하셔.
투디: 당신은 참 흥미로운 분이에요. 있잖아요, 이베님과 시간을 보낼 수 있어서 좋았어요. 저희 영국에 스튜디오에서 저희랑 같이 놀러 와요.

The space car crashed into the G-SHOCK store after the car chase, but I'm pleased everyone was OK. It made me really appreciate that Gorillaz is forever. I heard Don Alien cut the mission short though...
Noodle: (Translating to 2-D) he's ah, he's very umm, glad that we're alive, and after Don Alien cut the mission short, and we crash landed into his shop.
2-D: Yeah, things did get quite hostile. Umm, it was all a bit weird actually. One minute we were dancing and (INAUDIBLE) for all the other aliens and then the next minute we were ought to get out of there because umm, Don choked on his G-SHOCK watch. It got stuck in his throat and his eyes went green.
Noodle: I mean I actually quite enjoyed the space chase afterwards, but it's a shame that you blacked out and missed out on it.
2-D: No I didn't black out, I just fell asleep.
Ibe Kikuo: G-SHOCK aims to be "The toughest watch in the world" and started development 35 years ago. Even if an ice hockey stick was to hit it hard, or it was run over by a huge truck, G-SHOCK would remain tough and wouldn't break. Seeing that, we started to think that it was space next. I started to think that it would be great to be able to develop a G-SHOCK that can survive in the harsh environment of outer space.
Noodle: (Translating to 2-D) He started developing G-SHOCK 35 years ago, with a goal to create the toughest watch in the world, but now that he achieved it, he wanted to uh aim for outerspace and create the toughest watch in the universe.
2-D: Uh, hold on, what was the bit about ice hocky? I definitely heard ice hockey.
Noodle: Ah, I just couldn't be bothered to, to translate that. do you need-
2-D: Well you gotta tell me your the interpreter you can't just cherry-pick the bits you like. I want to hear about ice hockey.
Noodle: Ugh, fine.
Ibe Kikuo: Can I just carry on anyway?
Noodle: Yes, sorry.
Ibe kikuo: So, as G-SHOCK is 35 years old, to celebrate the 35th anniversary, I started to dream about wanting to see aliens wearing the G-SHOCK. That was the dream. I am thankful that the Gorillaz realised my dream.
2-D: Yeah, it was quite nice up in space. Um, it was really good to give the watches out. Before the end of the night, everyone was wearing 'em. And uh, and it's very good for us to know that now aliens have time on their hands.
Noodle: (Translating to Ibe Kikuo) Anyways, he said it's good that the aliens have time on their hands.
Ibe kikuo: I'm pleased to hear that.
Noodle: (Translating to 2-D) He's very glad to hear that.
2-D: I bet.
Ibe Kikuo: By the way, could you tell me what made you join Gorillaz?
Noodle: Well, for me, Murdoc put an advert for a guitarist in a music magazine called NME, when I was 10 years old, and I sent myself to the UK bu FedEx, that's how it started.
Ibe Kikuo: Good.
Noodle: Oh 2-D ah do you remember the FedEx crate that I traveled in? It gave me crazy splinters.
2-D: Well you thought it was bad for you, it was worse for us because we actually missed the package. When we came home there was just a note saying that we had to go the depot to retrieve it. So, I went down there and I forgot to take my passport so the guy wouldn't give me the package. So I had to go home and couldn't find my passport. I'd put it somewhere safe but it wasn't somewhere that you could actually remember it was in a place that was too safe, so I actually couldn't remember where I put it. So I spent 4 hours looking for that, when I got back there, he opened the passport and said that the page was missing because Murdoc had ripped it out to write a girl's number on. So I had to go back home and get my driver's license, then I realized I don't have a driver's license. So then I had to come back with the gas bill, and then uh, the guy that was serving me before wasn't serving the second time someone else had taken over 'cause his shift had ended. So it was actually six days before we got hold of her.
Noodle: It was supposed to be 2-days delivery, no wonder it took so long.
2-D: Well you should've gone first class.
Noodle: . .. ... Anyway, Ibe san, what inspired you to chase your dream?
Ibe Kikuo: Well, I got given a watch for the first time as a gift for entering high school, and when I dropped it, it broke into pieces. I came up with the idea of developing an unbreakable watch having seen that. But, it was harder than I had originally thought. I couldn't move forward at all, and my head, although it's a lot better, felt like it was going to explode at the time. I had even prepared myself to quit if it didn't work. But, I believed that I can absolutely solve this with my own belief; to "Never Never Never give up". Well, one time when I saw a girl playing ball in the park, It gave me the idea for the watch movement floating in the ball. That was my light bulb moment, at the same time it was the moment when the module floating structure was born.
2-D: Is he telling you how his head caught on fire?
Noodle: (Translating to 2-D) So he uh, he broke a very precious watch, so he wanted to create a very unbreakable watch, but it was really difficult so he felt like his head would explode
2-D: You're a very curious man. You know Mr. Ibe, it's been really nice hanging out with you. You should come and hang out with us in our studio in London.
Ibe Kikuo: I'd love to, Gorillaz really know how to throw a party.
2-D: And you know how to throw a watch.
Ibe Kikuo: Ah, I just remembered, I have watches as gifts for the both of you. Here you go.
2-D: oh, they're lovely.
Noodle: Wow, cool~
2-D: I'm gonna take one home and tie it to a woodpecker's beak
Ibe Kikuo: There's so much more to get done before the space dream is realised.
